Project Feed the Thousands surpasses its goal with $134,000, nearly 68,000 bags of groceries

BRATTLEBORO — Project Feed the Thousands' 18th annual food drive surpassed its annual goal by a significant margin, according to Project co-chairs Kelli Corbeil and Jeff Morse.

Corbeil and Morse announced last week that individuals and organizations donated more than 27 trailer trucks of food, an amount equal to more than 67,500 bags of groceries.

The largest annual food drive in southeastern Vermont, the Project also raised over $134,000 in cash.

Project Feed the Thousands supplies items and financially supports the storage and year-round distribution of food and personal care items to households in dozens of towns served by the Brattleboro Area Drop In Center, Hinsdale Welfare Department, Chester/Andover Family Center, Deerfield Valley Food Pantry, Our Place Drop-In Center in Bellows Falls, and Townshend Food Shelf.

Morse reminded area residents that while the main fundraising drive is done, “Project Feed isn't really over as long as hunger continues. Please keep your neighbors in mind throughout the year.”

He said people may donate funds throughout the year at feedthethousands.org or make donations directly at their local food shelves.
