St. Mike's 'Terrific Tag Sale' relocates to Dummerston

DUMMERSTON - One of the most anticipated Fall events in Brattleboro is the “Terrific Tag Sale” hosted annually by St. Michael's Episcopal Church. People line up for hours to be the first to shop for bargains in quality winter clothing, books, furniture, antiques and sports equipment. Over the years, St. Michael's has donated thousands of dollars in proceeds from this sale to local charities.

This year, however, St. Michael's is in the process of a total renovation of its building and the tag sale space will not be completed in time for the Columbus holiday weekend.

Not wanting to disappoint the throngs who count on the sale for winter clothing, Christmas shopping and just plain fun, the sale has been moved to the Dummerston Community Center on West Street, off Route 30, and will take place Friday, October 5, from 3-7 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m.-noon.

The Community Center and its bathrooms are accessible by wheelchairs and there is plenty of parking.

To get to the center, follow Route 30 for six miles north from the Brattleboro Common. Just after the green iron bridge, turn left on West Street and follow the “Terriffic Tag Sale“ signs. Call the St. Michael's Episcopal Church office at 802-254-6048 with any questions.

Benefiting the Grafton Volunteer Fire Department, this sale is a major fundraiser which traditionally draws a lot of community support. Joining with the firefighters will be the Grafton Elementary School Parent Teachers Group who will offer a range of hot coffee and pastries, grilled hamburger and hot dogs, and other food specialties.

The Grafton Firefighters Festival will take place at the Firehouse on Route 121, just east of Grafton Village, and will be on Oct. 6 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and Oct. 7 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Shoppers often return for the second day, when most everything is sold for half price.
