Jandee Lee Porter to perform In Bellows Falls

Country singer is one of the first in the Popolo Events Series

BELLOWS FALLS — Jandee Lee Porter, local country singing ingenue, will perform Saturday, Nov. 24, at the new Windham Ballroom in the Square in Bellows Falls.

Doors open at 8 p.m., and the show starts at 9.

Porter's performance is the third in the Popolo Music Series, which also features international cult rock pioneer Kristin Hersh and new folk veteran Peter Mulvey. Porter's country set fits neatly between these and progressive bluegrass “nu-grass” sensations Hot Day At The Zoo, who perform Dec 1.

Learning her alt-country chops right here in the Connecticut River Valley, Porter proves she's a student of unnoticed details. She trots them out into the open with a clear-throated sincerity that slyly mixes styles but relies on pure melodies and solid stories to hold it all together.

With the release of her third album, Porter ups the ante with a seasoned band of ringers who aren't afraid to mix their whiskey with their wine, and conjure a new blend of bluegrass, old country, and new country vibrations everyone says are Porter's own.

This show promises to shake off your Thanksgiving tryptophan haze and land you on the dance floor in your coolest cowboy boots.

Popolo's signature drinks and Italian-inspired cuisine round out a night of dining and dancing to our area's finest new country performer.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and are available at Popolo or at www.popolomeanspeople.com.
