Grafton store to continue operating with old storekeeper, new changes

GRAFTON — A lease to continue operations of the Grafton Village Store has been awarded to the store's current operator, Sandi Wood.

In a press release, Bob Allen, chief executive officer of the Windham Foundation, said that Wood, of Saxtons River, had completed a new plan of operations for the store and has secured the necessary financing.

“This will ensure virtually uninterrupted service for the village,” Allen said.

The store will offer new products and brands, an improved wine selection, and “a greater selection of Vermont-made products,” he said, and Wood is seeking requests from customers for products they would like to see available on the shelves.

The store will also pursue possibility of a Vermont liquor license.

The store will also begin opening at 7 a.m.

The Windham Foundation has agreed to make several upgrades to the interior of the store, including lighting.

“There may be a brief period in January, perhaps three to five days, when the store will be closed to complete the necessary interior upgrades,” Allen wrote.

The changes are expected in January.
