BRATTLEBORO — Once again, the town's Last Night Committee has planned what organizers describe as a fun-filled, family-friendly day of celebration for New Year's Eve.
The day kicks off with a free senior potluck luncheon at the Brattleboro Senior Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Music is provided by Sing, Sing & Swing.
From 1 until 4 p.m., enjoy sleigh and hay rides at Fair Winds Farm, 511 Upper Dummerston Rd. Tickets are $6 for adults, and $3 for children up to age 12.
Between 7 p.m. and 12:30 a.m., check out a free Youth Celebration and Dance Party, with games, food, the countdown frenzy, and more, at the Boys & Girls Club on Flat Street.
Skate for free at Living Memorial Park from 6 to 9 p.m. with door prizes and free hot chocolate. Weather-permitting, there will be skiing on the Living Memorial Park hill, with $5 lift tickets.
The children's program features the Annies (music and puppets) from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Brattleboro Retreat's Educational Conference Center. Just bring a non-perishable food item as admission to the performance and the post-show New Year's countdown.
As with the start of 2012, 2013's kickoff features a concert by The Amidons and Nightingale at the First Baptist Church on Main Street, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for children 6-14, and free for children younger than 6.
Following the concert, from 9 to 9:45 p.m., visit the Brattleboro Retreat's warming tent, and enjoy snacks and hot beverages while watching a fireworks display (starting at 9:30 p.m.) over the Retreat Meadows.
