‘Spell Check!’ seeks contestants

BRATTLEBORO — Latchis Arts celebrates its fifth annual “Spell Check: A Spelling Bee for Grown-ups,” a lighthearted competition on the main stage of the Latchis Theatre, on Saturday, April 6, at 6 p.m.

This exciting challenge pits trios of spellers against one another before a whimsical panel of judges and emcee Tom Bodett.

Community members are invited to form teams of adult spellers, and gird themselves for an evening of lexical lightheartedness. As important as the wordplay are catchy team names, comical costuming, and the promise of bragging rights and fame.

Team registration is $100, and each team must raise an additional $100 sponsorship.

Last year, 15 teams played, but only one walked away the winner: ExSPELLiarmus, composed of Elizabeth Catlin, Nancy Goodhue, and Robin Patch.
