WILMINGTON — The trustees of the Pettee Memorial Library in Wilmington are looking for a person with library experience and keen sympathy with small-town interests and issues to serve as their town's librarian.
Computer skills are essential, and familiarity with some standard book handling programs is an advantage.
The librarian is the chief administrator of the library, overseeing its day-to-day operations. Duties include training, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating staff and volunteers, selecting and weeding books and other library materials, developing and implementing programs for all ages, and working with the board of trustees to develop long-range plans and promote library use.
Other duties include overseeing building maintenance, preparing the library's annual budget in conjunction with the board, monitoring the library's expenditures, preparing reports to the DOL and others as necessary, and participating in continuing education programs.
The position of librarian is a part-time position of 30 hours a week with an annual salary of up to $32,000 depending on experience, without benefits
One week's paid vacation is provided after six months' service.
