A new day, new place for the Townshend Farmers’ Market

TOWNSHEND — It's a new day at a new location for the start of the Townshend Farmers' Market's sixth season.

Open Fridays from June 7 to October 11, the Townshend Farmers' Market will be held on the lawn at the West Townshend Country Store, the new hub for local food in the West River Valley.

Regular hours are 4 to 7 p.m., rain or shine. The market is at the intersection of Route 30 and Windham Hill Road.

Located at one of Vermont's historic country stores, the Townshend Farmers' Market boasts locally grown and produced foods, delicious baked goods, and prepared foods from talented chefs in the area; beautiful garden plants; handmade soaps, hand-blown glass, hand-carved chairs, and more.

And Friday night is pizza party night at the West Townshend Country Store, so that's a draw as you shop or settle in for some great live music.

Special event plans are in the works, including Shop with a Chef, Kids' Market Day, and a second annual pie contest.

And EBT customers will find great value at the market this season, as Harvest Health coupons are available. These coupons help EBT shoppers buy more fresh, healthful and local food for their families. EBT/SNAP cards and Farm to Family coupons are welcomed.

Townshend Farmers' Market is a joint project of Post Oil Solutions and the West River Community Project. In rainy weather the farmers' market meets in the big white church next to the store.
