Joan Osborne to perform benefit concert for The Wilmington Fund VT

WILMINGTON — Tropical Storm Irene caused mayhem here in 2011, and the work to rebuild is ongoing. Raising funds to help the village of Wilmington recover and grow stronger following that event, the nonprofit Wilmington Fund VT presents seven-time Grammy Award nominee Joan Osborne on Saturday, July 20, under the tent at The Hermitage Inn.

Osborne (www.joanosborne.com) is best known for her 1995 multi-platinum hit “(What if God Was) One of Us.” Over the past two decades, she has been recording and performing with various blues, rock, and folk performers ranging from The Holmes Brothers to Phil Lesh to the legendary Motown sidemen The Funk Brothers.

Her most recent recording, “Bring It On Home,” a collection of vintage blues and soul covers, earned a 2013 Grammy nomination in the category of best blues album.

Opening for Osborne is local musician Colby Dix (www.colbydix.com), who will be performing an acoustic set. He is finishing up recording his first solo album, “The Five,” which will be released in August.
