Marlboro Pre-College Summer Program line-up announced for 2014

MARLBORO — Marlboro College has released the dates and titles for its 2014 Pre-College Summer Programs, one-week sessions that offer young adults a glimpse of the college experience.

Participants will study with Marlboro College faculty members, ranked No. 1 in 2013 by Princeton Review, and build relationships with a group of other students passionate about learning - in the classroom and out.

“This summer will see the return of six popular 2013 programs and the addition of three new titles,” said Ariel Brooks, Marlboro College director of non-degree programs, in a press release.

“Each of these sessions offers an unmatched introduction to college-level academic work, in subjects ranging from philosophy to mathematics, combined with hands-on exploration,” she added.

The three new programs for 2014 are Risky Representations, a photographic exploration of images of the self; Green Mountain Ecology, an investigation of ecological dynamics in local habitats; and Building Social Movements. The latter is offered in collaboration with the Global Fund for Women, and will include planning elements of a global social change conference designed by, and for, young people in 2015.

First offered in 2012, Marlboro's Pre-College Summer Programs have been a great success according to Brooks, and have led students to new levels of academic inspiration and self-awareness.
