Employers sought for annual River Valley Employment Fair on April 23

SPRINGFIELD - The River Valley Workforce Investment Board announced that it will host the third annual Employment Fair on Wednesday, April 23, from 3 to 6 p.m., at the Nolin Murray Meeting Center, 40 Summer St.

Fair organizers are actively are looking for local employers with job opportunities, especially those who gear up in the spring and summer.

The fair is a joint effort between the River Valley Workforce Investment Board (WIB), the Vermont Department of Labor, Creative Workforce Solutions, and the River Valley Technical Center. The event is aimed at connecting local job seekers with seasonal and permanent jobs in our area and showcasing resources and training programs that will help job seekers attain employment.

The WIB serves the towns of Andover, Baltimore, Cavendish, Chester, Grafton, Landgrove, Londonderry, Ludlow, Plymouth, Reading, Rockingham, Springfield, Weathersfield, West Windsor, Weston, Windsor, Windham and surrounding communities.

Employers or resource organizations interested in participating in the fair should contact the Employment Fair Coordinator Suzanne Groenewold at 802-885-8310 or sgroenewold@rvt.org. The fee for employers to exhibit at the Employment Fair is $50. There is no fee for job seekers to participate in the fair.

Retreat employee named among '10 Dedicated and Deserving Social Workers' for 2014

BRATTLEBORO - The Brattleboro Retreat's Michelle Villeneuve, LICSW, has been named by Social Work Today magazine as one of “10 Dedicated and Deserving Social Workers” for 2014.

The announcement and accompanying article were published in the magazine's January/February 2014 edition.

Villeneuve, who works at the Retreat's Birches program, was nominated by her colleague Daniel Rodrigues, LICSW. She has been in the human services field for 25 years and has been a social worker for 21 years. She joined the Brattleboro Retreat in 2005.

With March being Social Work Month, the recognition could not have been more timely.

“I am honored and humbled at the same time,” said Villeneuve. “I would like to thank Danny [Rodrigues] for nominating me.”
