A modest proposal

WESTMINSTER — Here's a modest proposal: a swap of westbound road names for Brattleboro and Westminster.

Both towns have only one paved road to their west villages.

Westminster's road is free of potholes and worthy of a grand-sounding name like “Western Avenue” to go along with “King's Highway.”

The Patch family wouldn't object if Brattleboro borrowed the existing name. That way, Route 9 would have periodic street signs that state “Patch Road.”
