Each game represents a battle between mighty wizards who employ spells, items, and creatures depicted on individual cards to defeat their opponents. The format for the tournament at the RFPL is “Vintage.”
The tournament is an extension of the library's perennially popular gaming programs. Gaming offers young people problem-solving skills, experience working in groups, and several forms of literacy. For more than 10 years, the library has hosted a weekly night of role-playing games for teens. The library also has a collection of tabletop games available in the library, and now hosts a weekly chess club on Thursday afternoons.
