Lions Club has new address for applications

BRATTLEBORO - The Brattleboro Area Lions Club has found it necessary to change its mailing address, effective immediately, due to the Austine School's closure.

Club leaders said they were surprised to learn that mail forwarding is not available for this change, and they apologize for any inconvenience.

Mail sent in the last few days regarding sight and hearing assistance or other business will likely be returned as undeliverable. Correspondence should now be mailed to P.O. Box 1265, West Brattleboro, VT 05303.

Afterschool meals offered in Windham Central district

TOWNSHEND - The Jamaica Village School, Townshend Elementary School, and Leland & Gray Union Middle and High School announce the sponsorship of the U.S. Department of Agriculture-funded Child and Adult Care Food Program.

The Area Eligible Afterschool Meals Program, which provides care and educational and enrichment activities for children, will now make afterschool meals available to enrolled children at no separate charge.

Discovery arts for preschoolers offered at MSA

SAXTONS RIVER - Children 2 through 5 can invent and explore art in an open-ended way in a class just for them at Main Street Arts beginning Monday, Sept. 22.

Artist and mother Collin Leech will lead the 11 weekly sessions from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Class does not meet Columbus Day or Thanksgiving week.

Each class begins with a read-aloud story to inspire the beginning of that day's art project.

Fee for members is $82; all others pay $110. Scholarship assistance is available.

Leech began studying art at 11 at the Art Students League of New York. She attended the LaGuardia High School for the Arts and Maryland Institute College of Art. She is a creator and facilitator of arts-based programs for children, and has used her skills as a painter and massage therapist to promote healing. She teaches at the River Gallery School in Brattleboro.

Southeastern Vermont Watershed Alliance annual meeting set

NEWFANE - Southeastern Vermont Watershed Alliance will hold its annual meeting on Monday, Sept. 24 at 6:30 p.m., at NewBrook Fire Station, Route 30.

Dan Healey of Forest Works, and Windham County Forester Bill Gunther will present on invasive plants. SeVWA members will discuss exciting changes to the organization of the Water Quality Monitoring Program and how more communities can take part.

All are welcome. Light refreshments will be served.

Young professionals in Southern Vermont invited to solutions summit

BRATTLEBORO - Southeastern Vermont Economic Development Strategies (SeVEDS) and the Downtown Alliance invite the region's young professionals to SPARK, a summit to motivate, inspire, and call young professionals to action in southern Vermont. The event is Monday, Sept. 22, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Marlboro College Graduate Center, Room 2E.

SPARK will convene southern Vermont young professionals for an evening to focus on how young people can impact the region's economy. Drawing from SeVEDS' Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, and through a series of group discussions and exercises, this summit will explore the region's opportunities and challenges from the perspective of young professionals and entrepreneurs.

The group also will identify solutions for making southern Vermont a better place for young people to live and work. The evening culminates with planning an action that the group can develop for shaping southern Vermont's economic future and making the region an inviting place for young people to live and work.
