BRATTLEBORO — This year, you can share the excitement of the Oscars at the Red Carpet Hollywood Awards Night, a (local) star-studded evening on Feb. 22 at the Latchis Theatre on Main Street.
The event is brought to you by the folks at the Monadnock International Film Festival (MONIFF) in New Hampshire, which, with the assistance of the Brattleboro Film Festival, is raising funds for its annual film festival.
This year's festival - the third - takes place from April 16 to 18 at the Colonial Theater in Keene.
Film lovers can choose to attend either the Red Carpet Reception ($30 or $45 per couple) or the Popcorn & Candy ($15 per person) level.
All tickets will be sold at the Latchis Theatre that night, though RSVPs to monadnockiff@gmail.com are greatly appreciated.
The glamour begins 5:30 p.m. for the Red Carpet Reception ticket holders, who will stroll into the theater accompanied by the flashing of paparazzi's cameras, then linger and schmooze in the decked-out Latchis lobby.
Refreshments catered by High T will be available, as well as a full cash bar.
Inside the theater, celebrity handlers will direct Red Carpet guests to a seat for a live airing of the Academy Awards ceremony on the Latchis Theatre's big screen.
A swag bag packed with gifts and a movie-trivia contest completes the Red Carpet experience.
At 7 p.m., Popcorn & Candy ticket holders arrive for complimentary popcorn and candy, as well as access to the cash bar, at the start of the live airing of the awards on the Latchis Theatre's big screen, plus movie trivia and other surprises.
“Those who love films and want to help filmmakers everywhere, come support MONIFF while enjoying this light-hearted night-on-the-town, Hollywood-style,” write the organizers, who implore participants not to forget their boas.
