Christine Mix exhibits her illustrations at South Londonderry Free Library

LONDONDERRY — Local artist and children's illustrator Christine Mix is exhibiting her watercolor, pencil, and ink illustrations at the South Londonderry Free Library in South Londonderry through April 29.

Original paintings, cards, prints, design pillow covers, and hand painted items will be available for sale throughout the exhibit. An open art reception will be held on Wednesday, March 25, from 7 to 9 p.m., with refreshments and live music by local musician Jake Geppert.

Mix's illustrations have appeared in Stories for Children Magazine, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators's Bulletin and, so far, one children's book, Write Out of the Oven! by Josephine M. Waltz (Teacher Ideas Press/Greenwood Publishing, 2005). The book is a collection of letters and recipes from more than 50 well known and award-winning children's authors.

As a children's author, Mix has one non-fiction short true story, “Standing Up,” published in Chicken Soup for the Child's Soul. She is currently working on new stories and her second picture book dummy.
