BRATTLEBORO — The Boys & Girls Club of Brattleboro was one of 12 state organizations to receive grants from the Vermont Women's Fund to support skill-building programs for young women and girls around the state this year.
The Women's Fund, a component fund of the Vermont Community Foundation, awarded $97,700 through its competitive grant round this spring to 12 organizations.
The grants support programs that provide young Vermont women ages 15-25 with positive relationships and role models; development of self-advocacy skills; and opportunities to learn life skills, job readiness, and traditional and non-traditional education and vocation.
The Boys & Girls Club of Brattleboro received $10,000 for its Smart Moves program, which supports young women 15-19 years old to stay in school, develop a plan for post-secondary education or training, learn leadership and communication skills, seek out healthy relationships, and make choices that support a healthy lifestyle.
