Suspect arrested for Putney Road robberies; police seek to arrest N.H. man wanted for bank robbery

BRATTLEBORO — Police have arrested a woman suspected of two robberies on Putney Road and have also obtained an arrest warrant for a man wanted in connection with the June 29 robbery of the Peoples United Bank on Main Street.

According to a press release from the Brattleboro Police Department, detectives in the department's Criminal Investigation Division identified suspect Christina L. Kelley, 38, of Brattleboro, as responsible for the robbery of a McDonald's and the attempted robbery of a Dunkin' Donuts, both on Putney Road, last week.

Kelley is also accused of shoplifting from Hannaford Supermarket on Putney Road.

The BPD said patrol officers took Kelley into custody after a search warrant lead to the discovery of evidence in her motel room, also on Putney Road.

Kelley was arraigned at Windham County Superior Court, Criminal Division on July 2. She entered a not guilty plea to one count of larceny from a person, one count of attempted assault and robbery, and one count of retail theft.

Judge Karen Carroll ordered Kelley held on $25,000 bail. If convicted, Kelly faces up to 30 years, six months in prison.

Police say bank robber from N.H.

According to a news release from Brattleboro Police Det. Lt. Mike Carrier, police are seeking to arrest Jared R. Fahmy, 22, of Bedford, N.H., “as a result of an investigation conducted by detectives from the [BPD's] Criminal Investigation Division, probable cause was developed to charge Fahmy with Larceny from a Person.”

Fahmy is alleged to have robbed the bank in Brattleboro on June 29 at 12:45 p.m.

According to Carrier, Fahmy is alleged to have entered People's United Bank and handed the clerk a note demanding money. He received an undetermined amount of money from the clerk and left the bank on foot traveling south.

Anyone have information on Fahmy's whereabouts is asked to call the Brattleboro Police Department at 802-257-7950 or the TIPSLINE at 802-251-8188.
