BELLOWS FALLS — The New England Chapter of Sisters in Crime recently awarded $250 to Village Square Booksellers of Bellows Falls as part of their We Love Bookstores initiative.
Sisters in Crime is an organization dedicated to promoting the ongoing advancement, recognition, and professional development of women crime writers. Bookstores within the U.S. can enter a monthly drawing for the award by submitting an entry form and a photo of one or more staff members holding three books by Sisters in Crime members.
The check for $250, to be used for the promotion of books, will be presented Saturday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m., during a special event featuring five authors from Sisters in Crime: Jessie Crockett (Sugar Grove Mysteries); Connie Hambley (The Troubles); Ellen Larson (NJ Mysteries and In Retrospect); G.M. Malliet (St. Just and Max Tudor Mysteries); and Leslie Wheeler (Best New England Crime Stories 2015: “Rogue Wave”).
Their topic, “A Mystery to Me,” will be a basic “nuts and bolts” session covering everything from getting that first idea, creating characters, plotting, doing research, and the daily schedule that gets the book written.
The check presentation, talk, and book signings will be held at Village Square Booksellers, 32 the Square. Reservations for the event can be sent to info@villagesquarebooks.com or by calling 802-463-9404 or dropping by the store to reserve a seat.
Sisters in Crime has 3,200 members in 50 chapters worldwide, offering networking advice and support to mystery authors. The organization is also in the fifth year of its “We Love Libraries” project.
