MARLBORO — The Southern Vermont Nature Museum's annual President's Day Open House on Feb. 15 will focus on the art of nature.
Residents may join them for a free afternoon of live animals and local artists. The event will feature an exhibit of local photographers, painters, and craftspeople, as well as an opportunity to have a photoshoot or drawing session with some of the museum's education animals.
Kids' crafts and activities will include a scavenger hunt and activity table from the Pettee Library.
Scavenger hunt participants and those who dress up as an animal can win discounted museum memberships and prizes. The artists and photographers will be on hand to discuss their work and give suggestions and encouragement to emerging artists.
Museum staff and volunteers will be available to answer questions about the animals and the museum exhibits. The day starts at noon with a guided hike on the Hogback Conservation Area and then the doors open for free museum admission from 1 to 4 p.m. Mike Clough will lead a concluding hike at 3:45 p.m. and hikers are encouraged to bring their cameras.
