Allard Lumber honored by Northeastern Loggers’ Association

BRATTLEBORO — The Northeastern Loggers' Association (NELA) recently honored Clifford Allard and Allard Lumber Company as the recipient of its 2015 Outstanding Sawmill Operator Award.

NELA Board Secretary William Sayre presented the award at the annual Loggers' Banquet in South Burlington in a ceremony attended by more than 200 members of the Northeast's forest products industry.

Sayre said Allard Lumber - in its 42nd year of business - was started by Cliff and his brother on the farm of Robert Allard Sr. At the start, they used a 100-year-old hand-set circle mill to saw custom orders.

With 45 employees and markets worldwide, Allard Lumber produces high-quality hardwood lumber. Other products include veneer logs, rough sawn hardwood lumber, pallet cants, railroad ties, chips, bark, and sawdust. The firm also kiln-dries, planes, and grades lumber.

The business also includes log concentration yards in Pawlet and North Haverhill, N.H.

The Northeastern Loggers' Association, headquartered in Old Forge, N.Y., is a trade group representing nearly 2,000 members of the Northeast's logging, sawmilling, and paper industry.
