WILMINGTON — Bartleby's Books will present an evening of poetry with Tim Mayo and Jeff Friedman on Thursday, August 18, at 6:30 p.m. Both poets will read from their recent work, answer questions, and sign books.
Mayo holds an Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Extension Studies from Harvard University and a Master of Fine Arts in writing and literature from Bennington College. For the last few years, he has been studying flying trapeze.
Currently, he is a mental health worker at the Brattleboro Retreat and a substitute teacher at the Brattleboro Retreat's Meadows School. He will be reading from his new book, “Thesaurus of Separation,” as well his previous book of poetry, “The Kingdom of Possibilities.”
Friedman received his bachelor's degree in English from Macalester College and an MFA in poetry from the University of Iowa. He is the author of six collections of poetry, including “Pretenders” and his latest book, “Working in Flour.”
Since 1994, he has taught at Keene State College, where he and poet William Doreski cofounded the Keene State Writers' Conference. For seven years, he was a core faculty member in the MFA program in poetry writing at New England College. In 2003, he was the Distinguished Poet-In-Residence in the MFA program at the University of Missouri at St. Louis.
