Concert spotlights Moyse’s favorite works of J.S. Bach

MARLBORO — Tickets are still available for the sixth annual Blanche Moyse Memorial Concert, featuring the music of her beloved J. S. Bach.

Past members of the New England Bach Festival Orchestra will join the Blanche Moyse Chorale under the direction of Mary Westbrook-Geha to honor the memory of their mentor, Blanche Moyse. The concert will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, at Marlboro College's Persons Auditorium, according to a news release.

This scheduling is a change from previous years, when the memorial concert was held on Sunday afternoons.

This year's memorial concert program is a selection of Bach's choral and orchestral works. The choral works are Motet #6 (“Lobet den Herrn”), Motet #2 (“Der Geist hilft unser Schwachheit auf”), and the Short Mass in F. Alternating with the choral pieces are the Brandenburg Concerto #1 and the Concerto for Oboe and Violin featuring soloists Stephen Taylor and Mayuki Fukuhara.
