Board changes speed ordinance
DUMMERSTON — DUMMERSTON - At the Oct. 26 regular Selectboard meeting, the Board unanimously voted to change the town's speed ordinance, making the speed limit 25 mph on Town Highway 48, also known as Wickopee Hill Road, from the intersection of Bear Hill Road to the town line.
The speed limit on this stretch of the road was formerly 35 mph.
The new ordinance is within Article IV, Speed Restrictions, Section 2, West Dummerston, in the added section “K."
This ordinance becomes effective after 60 days unless the town receives at the town offices, on or before Dec. 8, a petition signed by 5 percent of the town's registered voters to disapprove the ordinance.
The full proposed ordinance and supporting documents are available in the town offices, and will be posted and published in The Commons, Board member Hugh Worden said.
