BMC Music School to host open house

BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Music Center's Music School, this year marking its 40th year, is hosting an open house.

The event is set for Friday, Dec. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Center at 38 Walnut St. A variety of sweets and savories - both musical and edible - will be served.

“We're encouraging members of our community to drop by and join our faculty, trustees, students and others in a celebration of everything we do,” Director of Education Programs Carol Compton said in a news release.

Since 1976, the Music School has shared the gift of music. Today, it boasts over 400 students, 30 faculty members, and music instruction in 15 instruments and voice.

Founded in 1952, The Center is guided by its artistic advisors - violinist/conductor Jaime Laredo and cellist Sharon Robinson - and today consists of numerous performance and education programs led by its artistic directors and a faculty of 40 professional musicians. Programs include the Brattleboro Concert Choir, Windham Orchestra, Blanche Moyse Chorale, Chamber Music Series, and annual Northern Roots festival.
