WARDSBORO — Wardsboro Curtain Call begins its 2017 season on April 22 with Sofia Talvik.
A news release describes Talvik as “unmistakably Nordic in flavor,” saying she “somehow still conforms to American interpretations of her own original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy, creating a special niche of folk music that has been described as neo-folk.”
Talvik is a veteran performer with six full-length albums as well as numerous EPs, singles, and tours behind her. Her touring has covered 45 states; the show in Wardsboro - her first time performing in Vermont - will make it 46.
Sofia has been compared with giants like Joni Mitchell and Judy Collins, but has “her own raw quality, a down-to-earth sound that makes her brilliant songwriting skills shimmer even more,” according to the release. To learn more or to sample her music, visit sofiatalvik.com.
The show begins at 7 p.m. on the Wardsboro Town Hall stage; doors open at 6:30. Admission is $10 at the door and includes smorgasbord-type refreshments. For more information about the show, visit www.WardsboroCurtainCall.net, call 802-896-6810, or email kwkmdavis@yahoo.com.
