PUTNEY — As I write this, I don't know the results of today's vote on the proposed school merger.
I'm writing to offer the comment that, however the vote goes, the process has been successful in its own right. Those supporting the merger and those opposing it each clearly and articulately put forward their positions and the rationales for those positions. We can be confident that the voters have heard the arguments for and against, and that they will have made an informed decision.
This is the way democracy should work, and as a community we may be proud that so many feel so strongly about our kids and worked so hard on this issue, whatever their position.
