Christy Foote-Smith is featured artist at Wardsboro library

WARDSBORO — Christy Foote-Smith is an art quilter whose work is inspired by the natural world. She retired to Wardsboro with her husband Bob Stupp three years ago after a long career in Massachusetts in environmental planning and management.

Throughout her life, Foote-Smith has spent time outdoors hiking, kayaking, skiing, and snow shoeing. This immersion in nature is reflected in her art. Time spent traveling in the Southwest has also provided inspiration.

Foote-Smith has taken art and photography classes throughout her life - first at the Museum School at the Art Institute of Chicago and later at the Museum School at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the de Cordova Museum in Lincoln, Mass.

In a news release, Foote-Smith says she looks forward to continuing to explore the habitats and wildlife of Vermont and incorporating the images she collects in her art work.

Her quilted wall hangings and other work may be seen through the end of May at the Wardsboro Public Library, 170 Main St., during regular hours. For more information, call 802-896-6988.
