AIDS Project invites public to 31st Walk for Life on May 19

BRATTLEBORO — The AIDS Project of Southern Vermont invites the public to help raise money and awareness Saturday, May 19, at its 31st annual Walk for Life.

The event, set for 10 a.m. to noon at the River Garden on Main Street, will spotlight community efforts not only to support local people living with HIV/AIDS but also to reduce the risk of transmission to others.

The Walk for Life will feature speakers, music, a brief period of remembrance, a salute to longtime supporter Howie Peterson and a light lunch, according to a news release.

The AIDS Project, established in 1988, encourages individuals, businesses, churches, schools, and community groups to form teams to seek contributions for its work with clients in Windham, Bennington, and southern Windsor counties.

This year's walk is sponsored by Brown Computer Solutions, New Chapter, West River Family Dental, Against the Grain Gourmet, The Richards Group and Swiss Precision Turning.

For more information, contact Karen Peterson at 802-254-4444 or apsv@sover.net or log onto the webpage www.firstgiving.com/AIDSProject.
