Garden tour benefits Westminster Cares

WESTMINSTER — This year marks the 17th anniversary of the Garden Tour, an event that has become a major fundraiser for Westminster Cares.

This year's Tour will be held the weekend of June 30 and July 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days.

The 2018 Tour will feature the gardens of Gordon and Mary Hayward; Julie Moir Messervy; Lonnie and Obe Lisai; and a “sculpture garden” by Joshua Gold Pottery in Westminster West.

Special events planned for this year are:

• A private Guided Tour by Gordon and Mary Hayward (In their garden, extra ticket needed), 3 p.m., Saturday.

•A “Before and After, Rain Garden Walking Tour” with Cyndy Fine of Genius Loci (takes place in Saxtons River; entry included with ticket), Saturday and Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to noon both days.

• Talks on “New Landscaping Ideas that Work” by Julie Moir Messervy (in her garden; entry included with ticket), 1:15-2:30 p.m. both days.

Lunch with desserts and homemade refreshments will be served in the Hayward gardens on both days; stroll the gardens to hear live music.

Raffle tickets will be sold by Westminster Cares board members for a chance at 10 prizes, including a garden-inspired handmade quilt featuring a “pinwheel design.”
