Kids of all ages to strut their creative stuff in BMAC programs

BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Museum & Art Center invites kids of all ages to share their creative talents with the world by taking part in three programs offered by the Museum this fall: Glasstastic for imaginative artists in grades K-6, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for talented Vermonters in grades 7-12, and BMAC's 11th Annual Lego Contest & Exhibit for creative types of all ages.

More information and guidelines for each program are available at www.brattleboromuseum.org.

A celebration of imagination and ingenuity, BMAC's bi-annual Glasstastic program invites children in grades K-6 to dream up and draw fabulous imaginary creatures, a selection of which will be turned into glass sculptures by artists from throughout New England.

The sculptures and every drawing that is submitted will be exhibited at BMAC from March 9 to June 16. To submit up to five imaginary creatures, pick up an entry form at BMAC or download one at www.brattleboromuseum.org.

As the statewide affiliate for the prestigious national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, BMAC encourages aspiring Vermont artists and writers in grades 7-12 to submit work for possible exhibition, publication, and scholarship opportunities.

Submissions are due Dec. 13 and will be judged by statewide experts in the fields of art and writing. Award-winning work will be exhibited at BMAC Feb. 17 to March 10. Some submissions will receive further consideration for national awards.

There are no age limitations for BMAC's 11th Annual Lego Contest & Exhibit. Submissions of original Lego structures must be delivered to BMAC on Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 4 to 6 p.m.

All submissions will be presented in an exhibit opening Thursday evening, Nov. 8, at 5 p.m. and remaining on view during regular museum hours through Sunday, Nov. 11. Prizes for creativity and craftsmanship will be awarded in seven age groups, ranging from preschool to adult. This popular annual program is generously sponsored by People's United Bank.
