Good day to you, hearty southern Vermonters! You've got to be hearty to deal with this weather pattern, that's for sure.
After an elevation snowstorm that brought more than 15 inches to Mount Snow in western Windham County and light accumulations even in Brattleboro earlier this week, we have more inclement conditions on the way.
Snow showers Wednesday will lead to a break in the action Thursday and Friday before some light rain and snow is possible Friday night. Then rain and snow return Saturday night into Sunday, with even more rain possible this coming Tuesday.
There are so many details to discuss, and it just so happens that I have so many words with which to discuss them!
For Wednesday, we have an upper level low pressure system that will need to slowly meander, amble and wind its way east and north through southern Vermont on its way to the Canadian Maritimes.
As it does so, periods of snow showers in the mountains and hills, and rain showers in eastern parts of Windham County's lowlands will drift through the region. Expect highs in the low to mid 30s with lows in the upper 20s under mostly cloudy skies.
For Thursday and Friday, high pressure will build into the region for a couple of days. We can expect partly to mostly sunny skies both days with highs in the low to mid 30s and lows in the mid 20s.
Friday night may feature some rain or snow showers as a weakening system dives southeast through the region, but it shouldn't amount to much.
Saturday will start off partly sunny and highs should reach the mid to upper 30s. However, we will cloud up during the second half of the day as yet another storm system will be in the process of tracking through the Great Lakes and passing to our northwest during Saturday evening into the first half of Sunday.
This will bring more accumulating snow to the high country and a mix of rain and snow in eastern parts of Windham County overnight Saturday and into the first half of Sunday. Highs on Sunday should climb to near 40 degrees. Some remnant rain or snow showers are possible Sunday night with lows in the low 30s.
Fair weather briefly returns Monday before another storm system brings a mix of rain and snow back to southern Vermont on Tuesday. Have a great week!
