School District Auditors' Reports now available
BRATTLEBORO - The Brattleboro Town and Town School District Auditors' Reports for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2018, are now available upon request and may be picked up at the Brattleboro Town Clerk's office, 230 Main St.
The Auditors' Reports will also be available as part of the Town and School District Annual Report, which will be available at the Town Clerk's office no later than Feb. 22.
Based on a vote at the 2010 Representative Town Meeting, the town no longer mails the Auditors' Reports to all voters, so persons interested in obtaining a paper copy of the Auditors' Reports should contact the Brattleboro Town Clerk at 802-251-8157.
Copies are also available on brattleboro.org, or may be sent by first class mail upon request.
Apple Pie Fest film screened in Dummerston
DUMMERSTON - The annual meeting and program of the Dummerston Historical Society on Thursday, Jan. 17, will begin at 7 pm. in the Historical Society's schoolhouse in Dummerston Center.
The business meeting will include a brief review of 2018 activities, election of officers, adoption of the annual budget, an update on the fight against moisture damage, and the capital fund to solve this problem.
The program, at 7:30 p.m., will feature the film Behind the Pie, produced by Theresa Maggio during the fall of 2011. This documentary reminds us of the hard work and dedication required by many to produce the luscious apple treats that represent the foundation of the Dummerston Apple Pie Festival.
Prepare to have your hearts touched by some of those are no longer with us as they tirelessly and happily roll dough, slice apples and bake, store, and sell all those delicious pies.
Additional Apple Pie Festival stories from those in attendance will be welcomed. The accompanying exhibit will be a collection of Apple Pie Festival photographs taken by Charles Fish.
Dummerston Historical Society welcomes all visitors; one doesn't need to be a member to attend programs; programs are free of charge and handicapped accessible. Refreshments will be served. Call 802-254-9311 for more information.
Senior meal in Halifax
HALIFAX - The monthly senior meal in Halifax is Friday, Jan. 18, at noon, at the Halifax community hall at 20 Brook Road.
This month's menu features sauerbraten, mashed potatoes, vegetables, rolls, and dessert. All seniors are welcome. A call to Joan at 802-368-7733 is appreciated to reserve a seat.
Dinner and karaoke in Townshend
TOWNSHEND - On Saturday, Jan. 19, from 5-8 p.m., Community Hope & Action will host a free supper and night of karaoke at the Townshend Town Hall.
The Bookies, a book club in the West River Valley, will cook dinner, served from 5 to 6 p.m. Karaoke will happen from 6 to 8 p.m.

'Yoga & Chocolate' supports local Planned Parenthood clinic
BRATTLEBORO - Throughout the month of January, Yoga Locally, Tavernier Chocolate, and Good Body Products have collaborated to raise money for the new downtown Planned Parenthood Health Clinic on High Street.
“Yoga & Chocolate” will run every Tuesday and Saturday through January. Yoga Locally classes are held every Tuesday (5 p.m.) and Saturday (10:15 a.m.) at 118 Elliot Street in Brattleboro.
After each class in January, Yoga students will receive an artisan chocolate nugget from Tavernier Chocolate and a chance to win a variety of gifts from Good Body Products.
No reservations are necessary for yoga. There is a $15 suggested donation per class and all donations will directly support the new Brattleboro Planned Parenthood clinic, which will open soon at the Brooks House. This event is hosted by Brattleboro's Reproductive Health Advocates.
Senior lunch at Putney Cares
PUTNEY - The next Putney Community Cares Luncheon for Seniors is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 22, from noon to 1 p.m., at the Laura Heller Community Barn located at 54 Kimball Hill.

Hospice to offer seven-week grief support group
BRATTLEBORO - A new seven-week bereavement support group for adults begins Feb. 4 and will meet each Monday, from 5:30-7 p.m., ending March 18.
This group is sponsored by Brattleboro Area Hospice and will meet at the hospice office at 191 Canal St. Lars Hunter is the facilitator of the group. Interested individuals must meet with him prior to the first session. Call him at 802-257-0775, ext. 104, by Jan. 31 for a pre-group appointment. The group size is limited to eight people.
Participation is free of charge and open to anyone in the community grieving the death loss of a loved one, no matter when or where the loss occurred.
Bereavement Support Groups offer a safe, mutually supportive environment for sharing experiences through discussion, readings, simple activities, and suggestions for moving through grief. Brooks Memorial Library seeks trustee
BRATTLEBORO - The Board of Library Trustees of Brooks Memorial Library seeks enthusiastic and dedicated library users to fill an open position on the Board.
Candidates should have an interest in maintaining a strong and visionary library and must be residents of Brattleboro.
The Board, which numbers nine trustees, meets at the library from 4:45 to 6:45 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month. Members are asked to chair or serve on two or more committees that convene as needed.
