Food pantry hours changed

WARDSBORO - The Jamaica/Wardsboro Community Food Pantry will be open on the last Wednesday of every month, from 6:30 until 8 p.m., in the Vestry building of the Wardsboro Yoked Parish on Main Street.

The second Wednesday distribution is discontinued until further notice. Clients are urged to mark their calendars and be sure to visit the Pantry at the end of the month.

The Pantry serves those living in Jamaica, Wardsboro, Stratton, and the surrounding area - no requirements, no questions asked.

Chili and music served in Williamsville

WILLIAMSVILLE - Come to the heated Williamsville Hall on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 6 p.m., for a dinner of chili (meat or vegetarian) and corn bread from the Top of the Hill Grill, with beverages and homemade dessert.

Then, at 7 p.m., enjoy a coffeehouse-style music presentation by George Weir, who, using his guitar, will perform music from the 1960s onward.

This is a “Heat the Hall” fundraising event. Tickets are $10; family rates are available. The Hall is accessible. For more information, visit williamsvillehall.com.

Tax-Aide sites to open in Brattleboro

BRATTLEBORO - Free, in-person tax assistance and preparation for taxpayers with low and moderate incomes will be available from the AARP Foundation from early February through the middle of April.

You do not need to be a member of AARP or a retiree to use this service.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers, trained and certified in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, will offer assistance with both federal and state personal income tax returns at three locations in Brattleboro.

• At the Community Bible Chapel on Wednesdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 802-246-7773 to make an appointment. The first day for appointments will be Wednesday, Feb. 6.

• At the Brattleboro Senior Center on Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 802-257-7570 to make an appointment. The first day for appointments will be Thursday, Feb. 7.

• At the Brattleboro VFW on Mondays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 802-451-8774 to make an appointment. The first day for appointments will be Monday, Feb. 4.
