Farmers' Market celebrates 45 years of local love on July 6
BRATTLEBORO - On July 6, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Brattleboro Area Farmers' Market will show its appreciation for 45 years of support by the greater Brattleboro community with an exhibit of photos and memorabilia and finger foods provided by market vendors.
In this anniversary year, the BAFM will establish a physical collection to be housed at the Brattleboro Historical Society so that interested parties can read about and listen to market founders, initial managers, and vendors share their stories and memories of the early years.
Interviews with one of the founding members, Ron Krupp, and first managers, the late Buddy Speno, already have been conducted and 2019 plans include interviews with Howard Prussack, Reed Miller, Joe Teller, Bill Schmidt, Bob Gray, and Jay and Janet Bailey.
Vendor/volunteers also will dig into the Roger Katz Collection at the Vermont Center for Photography as well as the archive of local photographer Bob George for photographs of the Farmers' Market in its earliest years.
As part of the July 6 anniversary celebration, the BAFM also will share photos and memorabilia on its website and via social media at www.brattleboroareafarmersmarket.com.
