BRATTLEBORO — The Wednesday Farmer's Market has moved back uptown, at least for this season.
With the planned start of construction later this summer of the new Brattleboro Food Co-op building, the Wednesday market was forced to leave its home of the past couple of summers on the Whetstone Pathway.
It is now back at the place where it began, outside the Gibson-Aiken Center on Main Street. The market will be held every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Oct. 27.
“People are going to enjoy this location, especially people who work downtown,” said market manager Megan Luce. “There's a lot more shade here than at the Co-op and it's a lot smaller than the Saturday market.”
The growth of farmer's markets around Vermont, and around Windham County, means more choices for consumers, Luce said.
“We don't mind the competition,” she said. “The idea is to reframe the way people do their food shopping. The Wednesday market is a nice little event to break up the week."
“It's beautiful here,” said Jerry Smith of Deer Ridge Farm of Guilford. “I hope people come to check us out.”
