Hello and good day to you, fine citizens of southeastern Vermont! We've got our fairly bland winter continuing into February, despite a small dump of snow early this week.
For Wednesday, we'll enjoy a lovely, seasonable day before clouds build in Wednesday night. Light accumulating snow changing to ice and rain by Thursday morning begets northwest winds and much colder temperatures Thursday night through Saturday night.
At least our colder period will be accompanied by dry conditions and more sun than clouds. We see temps increase again for Sunday into early next week with some mixed precipitation possible Sunday night into Monday.
With our weekly weather picture painted, let's jump into the daily details!
For Wednesday, high pressure will build into the region and produce a lovely, partly to mostly sunny day with highs in the mid to upper 30s. Lows will drop into the low to mid 20s as we cloud up rapidly as an incoming storm system pushes northeast towards southern Vermont.
Snow is expected to break out across southern Vermont after midnight early Thursday morning, and it should accumulate anywhere from 2 to 5 inches before mixing with and changing to sleet and freezing rain by or before dawn Thursday morning.
The morning commute will be impacted by snow and ice which will produce a mess on the roads, so give yourself extra time when traveling. Any ice should mix with rain and then end with some drizzle by about noon or so. Some freezing drizzle will be possible in the high terrain to the west and north.
We'll see highs in the mid to upper 30s before a cold front crashes southward through the state. Lows will plummet to the 5-10 degree range with northwest breezes and a few snow showers possible.
Friday and Saturday look cold, dry and fair with mostly sunny and mostly clear skies. Highs on Friday will only reach the mid to upper teens and lows will be 5-10 degrees below zero! Bundle up for Valentine's Day activities, you love bugs!
Saturday will see highs in the upper teens to low 20s with lows either side of 10 degrees.
By Sunday, another weak system will approach with snow showers possible and highs in the mid to upper 30s and lows in the 20s. Any Monday morning mixed showers should lead to drying and mild conditions for Monday and Tuesday. Have a great week!
