Everyone Eats! coming to the Rockingham area
BELLOWS FALLS - Everyone Eats! will be coming “very soon” to Rockingham, Westminster, Athens, and Grafton, according to a news release.
The new federally funded program supports restaurants, farmers, food producers, and the local economy while also feeding the community during the disruption of COVID-19.
Local restaurants - currently including Jamaican Jewelz, MKT: Grafton, Wunderbar, Allen Bros., Leslie's, and Smokin' Bowls - will be making to-go meals for residents of these four towns.
Restaurants, which will use locally produced food for at least 10 percent of each meal, will be reimbursed for the meals, and meals are free to anyone requesting them.
The goal of Everyone Eats! is to help stabilize communities by nourishing Vermonters and providing economic support to restaurants and farmers. A pilot program has been running in Brattleboro.
To join the program, fill out the Everyone Eats! form online at rockinghamlibrary.org. Applicants can also call the Rockingham Free Public Library at 802-463-4270 to register.
When the program begins, pick-up locations will be announced. Households will receive one meal for each person in the household.
Because transportation can be an issue, a participant can pick up meals for up to three other households.
Patrols to clamp down on drunk driving
NEWFANE - The Windham County Highway Safety Task Force - comprised of the Windham County Sheriff's Office, the Brattleboro Police Department, the Bellows Falls Police Department, and the Dover Police Department - have started conducting saturation patrols throughout the county during the Labor Day DUI mobilization period.
During this initiative, which runs through Sept. 7, law enforcement personnel are aggressively enforcing laws intended to address impaired driving.
Officers and deputies will also be “aggressively targeting seatbelt/child restraint violations, aggressive operation, and usage of handheld electronic devices,” according to a news release.

Local project seeks people to create art for social change
BRATTLEBORO - Art for Social Change, sponsored by The Root Social Justice Center, River Gallery School, and In-Sight Photography Project, takes place every Friday at River Gallery School, 32 Main St., from 1 to 4 p.m.

Program organizers invite all to come by so they can, in their words, “spread messages of transformation, unity and justice all over the town of Brattleboro.”
All materials available for free. Masks are required. Drop-ins are welcome. There is a six-person maximum capacity in studios. For more information, contact Jess Weitz at jess@rivergalleryschool.org.
In addition, River Gallery School will have an art table at the Solidarity Friday rallies in Pliny Park in Brattleboro for art and sign making from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Paste-ups will be put up around town between Oct. 15 and Nov. 15.
