Red Cross needs blood donors

BRATTLEBORO — The American Red Cross is urging healthy donors of all blood types to give blood or platelets to ensure a strong blood supply for patients as the U.S. braces for flu season while in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Because blood can be given only by those who are feeling well, a severe flu season could create additional challenges to maintaining a sufficient blood supply for hospital patients in need.

Upcoming donation opportunities in Brattleboro include:

• Thursday, Oct. 29, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Brattleboro Fire Department, 103 Elliot St.

• Tuesday, Nov. 10, noon to 5 p.m., Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 54 Chickering Drive, Unit 1.

• Friday, Nov. 13, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Brattleboro Music Center, 72 Blanche Moyse Way.

• Saturday, Nov. 14, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Winston Prouty Center, 209 Austine Drive.

Stay healthy this flu season and make an appointment to donate blood by visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767).
