Post Oil Solutions announces fall 2010 workshop schedule

As part of its continuing efforts to teach people how to eat out of their gardens 12 months of the year, Post Oil Solutions' “(Re)learning to Feed Ourselves” project will feature a number of workshops as we approach the end of the growing season.

The schedule is as follows:

• Aug. 15, Canning Workshop I, with Treah Pichette & Sherry Maher, 1 p.m., Christ Church, Saxtons River (15 person limit).

• Aug. 29, Garden to Bed Workshop, with Robert King, 1 p.m., Brattleboro Savings & Loan community room.

• Sept. 5, Guilford Fair, 11:30 a.m., Herb Walk (Cindy Hebbard); 12:30 p.m., Bread & Butter Pickles canning demonstration (Sherry Maher and Tim Stevenson); 1:30 p.m., Herb Walk (Cindy Hebbard); 2:30 p.m., Herbal First Aid for Families (Cindy Hebbard).

• Sept. 6, Guilford Fair, 10;30 a.m., Refrigerator Pickles canning demonstration (Robert King); 11:30 a.m., Herb Walk (Cindy Hebbard); 12:30 p.m., Relish canning demonstration (Sherry Maher and Treah Pichette); 1:30 p.m., Herb Walk (Cindy Hebbard); 2:30 p.m., Natural Therapies for Lyme Disease (Cindy Hebbard).

• Sept. 12, Root Cellar Workshop, with Robert King, 1:00 PM, Brattleboro Savings & Loan community room.

• Sept. 19, Canning Workshop II, with Treah Pichette & Sherry Maher, Christ Church, Saxtons River (15 person limit).

• Oct. 3, Mushroom Identification and Cultivation Workshop, co-sponsored with Vermont Land Trust, with David Wichland; Lilac Ridge Farm, Brattleboro. There is a $10/$20 sliding-scale fee to cover the supplies provided at the workshop; however, no one will be refused for lack of funds. To register, visit www.vlt.org/events.html. Day-of walk-ins will be allowed only if there is room.

• Oct 10, Lacto Fermentation Workshop with Meg Lucas & Barbi Schreiber, 1 p.m., Christ Church, Saxtons River (15 person limit).

 Workshop fees are $10/$70 sliding scale, with no one refused for lack of funds. The events at the Guilford Fair are free. Participants are asked to be as generous as they can to help support the work of Post Oil Solutions. Pre-registration and payment are required, call 877-886-7397.
