Brattleboro hosts Last Night 2021 celebration on Dec. 31

BRATTLEBORO — The Last Night Brattleboro will offer a fun-filled and substance-free day of celebration for all ages on New Year's Eve, Friday, Dec. 31.

With the continuing pandemic, the committee said in a news release that it has “scaled back or altered some of our activities out of an abundance of caution to prevent community spread. COVID-19 protocols, such as masks and social distancing, will be required at all events.”

The committee members ask that those “not feeling well or [who] have been around another COVID-positive person(s)” not to attend any events.

• This year, the day will kick off with free snowshoeing and cross-country skiing at the Brattleboro Outing Club (BOC) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Trail access will be free and rentals will be available during this time.

BOC will also be featuring XC Ski Bingo, a ski version of bingo. Pick up your bingo card at the BOC Ski Hut between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday. Return your completed bingo card to the Ski Hut by 2 p.m. for a free cup of hot chocolate and raffle entry to win a prize.

• A Senior Pizza Party with appetizers and door prizes will be provided at the Brattleboro Senior Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• Bowling returns to the Last Night menu, with children's bowling from 2 to 4 p.m., which will include rentals for $9. Attendees will get to enjoy a take-home yogurt.

The All-Ages Bowling at 5 p.m. is $59 per lane, or $69 at 7:30 p.m. The fee includes two hours of bowling, shoes, pizza, soda, party favors, music, and a light show. Call to reserve a lane at 802-257-1177.

• Bring your skis and snowboards up to Living Memorial Park Snow Sports from 3 to 9 p.m. to enjoy the fresh snow and cool winter air for $5 per person for a lift ticket.

• Skating at Living Memorial Park will be free, with door prizes and hot chocolate, from 6 to 9 p.m.; skates can be rented for $3.

• The fireworks display starts at 9:30 p.m. over the Retreat Meadows.
