Old Home Days this weekend

ROCKINGHAM — The 45th annual Rockingham Old Home Days celebration will take place on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 5-6, at the Waypoint Center, 17 Depot St., in Bellows Falls, from 4 to 10 p.m.

Rockingham Old Home Days celebrates a tradition that started in the early 1900s. All-day events include the Guinness Book of World Records barbecue, tiny homes on display, a flea market and a flea market flip contest, dunk tank, live entertainment, food booths, a climbing wall, live animals, craft demonstrations and more.

Hosted by the Great Falls Regional Chamber of Commerce, the event includes fireworks on Saturday at 9:30 p.m.

Musical offerings include karaoke at noon, the Green Mountain Strummers at 3 p.m., music to be determined at 4 p.m. and The RoadTrash Band at 7 p.m.

Visit the farmers' market at Hetty Green Park on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and enjoy a community cookout at First Baptist Church from 5 to 6:30 p.m. A family carnival will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Line dancing goes on from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Moose Lodge and, at 7 p.m., catch the show at the Opera House and go on to PK's Irish Pub's DJ party at 9 p.m.

On Saturday, enjoy at 5K run/walk at 8 a.m. Get your COVID vaccinations from 2 to 8 p.m. at the fire department. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m, take part in the Launch Party at The Fish Ladder. Listen to Flat Iron Jazz from 2 to 5 p.m. at Flat Iron Cooperative and drop by the fire department again at 3 p.m. for a cookout.

The scene shifts to the historic Rockingham Meetinghouse on Sunday, where you can hear humorist Bill Mares' presentation of “I Could Hardly Keep from Laughing” at 1 p.m. at the Meetinghouse, and nd the celebration in Saxtons River with music from Quebec and Trois Amis at Main Street Arts at 7 p.m.
