Chainsaw safety workshops planned in Windham County

The Windham Natural Resources Conservation District (WNCRD) and the Windham Regional Woodlands Association are partnering to offer a series of chainsaw safety workshops this fall in Windham County.

“Game of Logging” chainsaw safety workshops are scheduled for the weekends of Sept. 10–11 and Sept. 16–18. Instruction will be provided by Northeast Woodland Training, Inc., who says their mission is “to deliver the highest quality training instruction to people, companies, and organizations throughout the Northeast and nationally.”

“These will be the first courses offered in Windham County since 2020,” WNRCD district manager Cory Ross said in a news release. “We've heard frequently from the public about the value of these workshops and anticipate high demand.”

Courses are capped at 10 participants each, so interested people should register soon. Individual courses are as follows:

Level 1: Saturday, Sept. 10 (Saxtons River);

Level 1 (Women Only): Sunday, Sept. 11 (Brattleboro);

Level 2: Friday, Sept. 16 (Saxtons River);

Level 3: Saturday, Sept. 17 (Saxtons River); and

Level 4: Sunday, Sept. 18 (Saxtons River).

All workshops run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information and to register, visit windhamcountynrcd.org/game-of-logging. For questions, contact Ross at windhamcountynrcd@gmail.com or 802-689-3024.
