BELLOWS FALLS — Canal Street Art Gallery, 23 Canal Street, presents “Amendment XXIX Right to Privacy,” a collection of artworks signifying artists' personal expression on a Right To Privacy Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Artists in the show include Clare Adams, Nancy Fitz-Rapalje, Corinne Greenhalgh, Yevette Hendler, Marcie Maynard, Roxy Rubell, and Jeanette Staley. The show opens Friday, Oct. 21 with an opportunity to meet the artists during the Bellows Falls 3rd Friday Gallery Night from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibit is open to the public through Dec. 10.
“The design of the Right to Privacy Amendment is to guarantee all American citizens the right to access, manage, and preserve free choice over their family life, home, communications, personal data, body, and health,” said organizers in a news release. “This 29th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution would prevent state and federal governments from making or enforcing any law restricting any person's Right to Privacy, and requiring due process of law to deprive any citizens of this right.”
The Right to Privacy Amendment is modeled after the 1st, 4th, and 14th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution, Article 7 of The Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, and Article 12 of the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights, organizers say.
Canal Street Art Gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information about “Amendment XXIX Right to Privacy” or Canal Street Art Gallery, go to canalstreetartgallery.com online, call 802-289-0104, or send emails to artinfo@canalstreetartgallery.com.
