PUTNEY-Rep. Mike Mrowicki, incumbent for the Windham-4 district (Putney and Dummerston), is running unopposed only in this summer's primary election, not for the November race. He will have two challengers, and one of them will be me.
I am a primary progressive. I identify as an independent.
My purpose is simple. More Vermont farms are the answer.
More Vermont farms are the answer if you are concerned about climate change; if you are not worried about climate change, more farms are still the answer.
If you are worried about homelessness, more farms are the solution. If you are worried about addiction or incarceration - again, more farms will serve the remedy. If you are worried about health, more farms, means more organic, clean, local food, which contributes to improved heath.
Montpelier should be working to increase our organic farms. Vermont should be well on its way to food independence as a matter of adapting to climate change, a matter of health, a matter of home, a matter of prosperity for all, and a matter of loving respect for Mother Earth and our children.
If I may coin a term: prosperism is what we are yearning for. Corporatism is for the wars.
If our Vermont government were to advance this vision of farm expansion, it would dispel the image of political actors spinning crises into government/nonprofit/corporate money-makers instantly.
You can elect me to get it begun.
