BRATTLEBORO-The Women's Freedom Center (WFC), dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence, will hold a 50th Anniversary Gala event on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 6 to 10 p.m. at The Stone Church on Main Street. Organizers say this celebration "promises an evening of reflection, joy, and renewed commitment to ending domestic and sexual violence."
Since its founding in 1974, WFC has been at the forefront of supporting survivors and advocating for systemic change. Over the past 50 years, the organization has made significant strides in raising awareness, advancing policy reform, and providing crucial resources and support.
To celebrate these achievements and the ongoing commitment to its mission, the gala will feature a champagne toast, a selection of hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction, and a signature cocktail/mocktail. Guests will also enjoy live music from The Moon Dogs, followed by dancing through the decades with DJ Wooly Mar. Attendees will also have the chance to connect with advocates, share inspiring stories, and renew their support for WFC's vital work.
"We are deeply honored to celebrate this significant milestone in our organization's history," says WFC Executive Director Vickie Sterling in a news release. "While we are proud of our progress, we recognize that our work is far from over. For 50 years, WFC has stood with survivors, providing support, hope, and resources. Our gala is a tribute to their courage and resilience. It is both a celebration of our past and a reaffirmation of our commitment to creating a future free from violence and oppression."
Organizers say the evening "will highlight WFC's impact while setting the stage for future goals. With renewed determination, WFC aims to expand its reach, deepen its impact, and address the root causes of domestic and sexual violence to foster safer and more resilient communities."
"We are deeply grateful for our community's steadfast support over the past 50 years," adds Sterling. "As we mark this milestone, we invite our community to join us in renewing our commitment to a safer, more equitable future for all."
