Write Action plans a potluck picnic

GUILFORD-Write Action is in its 24th year as a local writers' nonprofit, with programs and readings throughout the year.

The organization will be holding its annual potluck picnic on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 1 to 4 p.m., with a rain date of Sunday, Sept 8. Members of Write Action, participants in Poems Around Town, and the public are invited to attend.

With the passing of Write Action's devoted friend and past board vice-president Tom Ragle, the event has been moved from the Ragles' home to Wendy Redlinger's home at 2596 Tater Lane in Guilford.

Attendees should bring a chair or blanket, a dish to share and, if desired, prose or poetry to read at the open reading. Readers will each have five minutes. Host Andy Burrows will pick names from a hat and introduce each reader.

Information about the organization will be available, as well as an opportunity to become a member (at no cost). This is also a chance for writers new to the area to meet and greet fellow writers (and readers).

Owing to the recent uptick in Covid, masks are recommended, even though the event will be outside.

Organizers promise "good shmooze, good booze (if you bring it yourself), and good food and music in a lovely outdoor setting."

Write Action will supply paper plates, eating utensils, and soft drinks.
