Thanksgiving closures in Brattleboro
BRATTLEBORO - In observance of Thanksgiving, all town offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29, with the exception of emergency services.
Brooks Memorial Library will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27. They will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, and open on Nov. 29, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Friends of the Brooks Memorial Library Book Sale will take place on Nov. 29 as well.
Trash and recycling will not be picked up on Thursday, Nov. 28. All trash and recycling pick-up will be delayed by one day all week.
Christmas concert in Westminster
WESTMINSTER - The Westmoreland (N.H.) Town Band will hold a Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 4 p.m. at the The First Congregational Church of Westminster, 3470 Route 5.
After the concert, join them for refreshments, and visit with the musicians.
Giving Tuesday at Grace Cottage
TOWNSHEND - After Black Friday and Cyber Monday comes Giving Tuesday, a worldwide day of philanthropy during the season of gratitude. This year, Giving Tuesday falls on Dec. 3.
Grace Cottage Family Health & Hospital is asking for Giving Tuesday donations for the purchase of several pieces of state-of-the art equipment for the newly renovated outpatient rehab clinic building. This equipment is designed to help patients return to optimal health as quickly and completely as possible.
With the number of patients seeking physical and occupational therapy growing, Grace Cottage is in the final stages of renovating the Heins Building on its campus to become the new Outpatient Rehab Department, featuring more treatment rooms and an expanded gym. The public is invited to tour the new facility during the ribbon cutting ceremony at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
Community support will help to get this expanded space up and running at full capacity. Checks payable to Grace Cottage with "Giving Tuesday" on the memo line may be sent to P.O. Stitch together at Putney Library
PUTNEY - A new fiber arts group is forming at Putney Public Library and everyone is invited to knit, crochet, embroider, mend or work on any handwork craft in the company of others. The library is cozy and the lighting is perfect for needlework of all kinds! Beginners are welcome.

350Vermont hosts Brattleboro workshop
BRATTLEBORO - Join 350Vermont in Brattleboro for "Don't Burn Our Future: Clean Power Now!" on Saturday. Dec. 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the community room at Brooks Memorial Library on Main Street.
Organizers said this will be an interactive workshop "to learn about what climate action is happening in Vermont and the opportunities that we have to take action over the next year toward clean and just energy and creating the future we want to see. Folks will come away with clear next steps for action and further ways to get involved."

TOWNSHEND - The West River Radio Club will offer testing opportunities for those who are ready to obtain or upgrade their FCC license on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the Townshend Town Hall, 2006 VT-30.
Persons wishing to take any exam need to RSVP and bring the following:
• Your FCC registration number obtained prior to the exam at the ARRL website: bit.ly/792-ham.
• Two pieces of identification, one with a photo.
• Pencils and a calculator (not the one on your phone).
• Any prior radio license.
• $15, cash or check.

Senior lunch in Dummerston
DUMMERSTON - Evening Star Grange and Senior Solutions will present their only Senior Lunch in December on Wednesday, Dec. 11, with take-outs available from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the in-house meal served at noon. Reservations for this meal are highly recommended and should be made as early as possible. This will be their Christmas lunch and the menu will be roast pork, mashed potatoes and gravy, Linda's cabbage casserole, and Harvard beets,with Lemon Breeze for dessert. The vegetarian option will be cheese tortellini–spinach casserole. A gluten-free option will also be available for those needing a "no wheat" menu.
A donation of $3 for those 60 and older and $4.00 for the 59 and under crowd is suggested to help offset the cost of the meal.

The Guilford Food Hub is a year-round local food market with online ordering and pick up at the Broad Brook Community Center. Food is sold at or below cost with no markup. They also have a pay-what-you-want food shelf open to the community on pickup days with items that are free or by donation.
