Thanks to three amazing women for sharing their unique lives

PUTNEY-I just want to say how much I loved this article.

It was so heartwarming and interesting to hear of the lives of three wonderful women, Alice Anderson Stockwell, Sylvia Smith Morse, and Janice Pratt Martin. It gave me the opportunity to step back to a time when things were simpler. And though those times were not easier, their experiences were so very rich in meaning.

It reminded me of stories that my grandmother used to tell me of how people really pulled together in this area, particularly during the Great Depression. The ladies' memories of rationing, the boys enlisting in World War II, and the long walks to school were familiar to me. Their stories, with their particular joys and hardship and comic moments, made the article so touching and interesting.

I want to thank these three amazing women for sharing their unique lives with all of us, as well as Fran Lynggaard Hansen for doing the interviews and reporting the story.
