Gaslight Tinkers throw a dance party

PUTNEY-Next Stage Arts and Twilight Music present a dance party with roots and world music quintet The Gaslight Tinkers at Next Stage on Friday, Jan. 24, at 7:30 p.m. This quintet blends African, Caribbean, funk, Reggae, and Latin grooves with traditional fiddle music. Carnival rock quartet Fool & The World opens the show.

The Gaslight Tinkers' mix of global rhythms creates a world beat sound around a core of traditional New England old time and Celtic fiddle music. Drawing from their extensive musical backgrounds in traditional folk, Caribbean, old time, Celtic, and rock, I-Shea, Clara, Garrett, Elie, and Peter craft a sound that brings world traditions together. Since its formation in 2012, the band has performed coast to coast as well as the Caribbean, headlining clubs, dances, and major festivals.

Fool & The World members say they "offer a soundtrack to life's journey, with poetic lyrics, soaring harmonies, innovative songwriting, and pure rock 'n' roll mojo."

Next Stage is at 15 Kimball Hill in downtown Putney. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Advance tickets are available at nextstagearts.org. Next Stage will provide a beer, wine, and cocktail cash bar. For information, call 802-387-0102.
